Civilisation evolved with the assumption that planetary conditions would always be stable. It did not evolve to provide all the systems, disciplines and cultural norms needed to address planet-wide environmental instability. Thus we find ourselves unprepared to solve climate change. Our cultural DNA leaves us inadequate to the task. For example, people in positions powerful enough to address the biggest problems often see risking their position as “above their pay grade”.
Powerful game changing solutions are gradually becoming available, but we ignore the underlying problems at our peril. This section investigates those problems.
